Sitigun cafe

My most frequently visited cafe in Penang.  One of the few places that serve fully roasted coffee beans.  Whether breakfast or lunch, to savour Crash coffee (known as kopi toebroek in Indonesia or Turkish) and chill.  Other favourites include spicy fried Tempe (fermented soya beans) wrap and croissant.

Each cafe has an ambience engulfed by the signature of its barrister.  This has additional friendliness of the owner, that's why customers keep returning - like home.

新街のStory

We took a quick breakfast at Chowrasta market before our walk.  Wantan mee, Kuey Tiao Teng, Chee Cheong Fun and ended with a walk down the street to get some APOM ~ a simple mini pancake of flour and eggs, 6 for Rm2 (it used to cost 3 for Rm1 2 weeks ago).  I once observed a well-known local conservationist and hotelier sitting in front of his boutique hotel cafe having APOM for breakfast while he prowl over some reading materials and I thought, that's a great way to start a day.

While we wait for the APOM store owners to start their business for the day, I saw Uncle in his usual stance soaked up in the bustling activities around and I asked ~ do you feel that by observation, you are communicating with what's happening around you? He said 'somewhat like that'.

As we walk the street parallel to the Chowrasta market (@ jln kuala kangsar) at the request of Uncle to avoid the crowd, I asked Uncle the question ~ was this place used to be crowded, until the young adults leave to work elsewhere?  He said 'Yes' and Campbell street 新街 was most crowded amongst the streets.

As we walk along, I noticed the signboards of shops that we visited for chicken rice or to buy locally produced biscuits and I took a pic of it before the next wave of change sweep by.

Miam Miam @ Gurney Paragon

For a long while, I like to pop by Miam Miam after work.  Often for a light bite.  The hot Matcha latte is one of the best in town.  Lobster bisque soup is served with thick soft crusty toast.  French toast is a yummy meal accompaniment by maple syrup, thick cream and dusted icing sugar.  Creme brûlée is silky and topped with a crisp caramelised crust.  The famous Soufflé is cotton soft and crusty on the outside.

Love the blue and brown colour theme with a pop of yellow or white chairs and accentuated by the colonial design tile flooring.  Service staff is friendly and cheerful.  A cosy hangout venue.

My all time favourite drink, hot matcha latte.

After a year or two, I'm still returning to this place occasionally.  They have decorated this panel with colourful flowers.

My corner, in the yummy yellow chair.  Expect gust of unexpected occasion wind from the aircon coming from the mall if you take this spot.
